Can we use our own vendors?

Yes, we want to leave you several options when planning and budgeting for your big day. We have a recommendation list for you to use as well.

What are the venue rules?

Once you have decided to host your event here at the hitching post you will be given a contract to sign. All the rules are stated in the contract for your review. Once it has been read we ask for a signed copy to be returned to us. 

Dates are held for one week at no cost and then the required deposit will be due. If no deposit is received the date will be released back to the public.

What are the directions?

You can find us online on Google maps under 'The Hitching Post' or by entering 10064 Township Road 510 County of Vermillion River

What happens in case of inclement weather?

The ceremony will be moved indoors to the tent and can take place in front of the backdrop in place of the head table. We do not provide a secondary arch and guest tables will remain the same setup.

What is your season?

We are open for bookings from May long weekend until October 1st.

Do we need a liquor licence?

Yes, you must purchase the proper permit from the ALGC and post the license along with a record of all purchases to provide the source of all the liquor. Either a Private Non-sale or a Private Resale SEL (Special Event License) is required.

Do we need to hire licensed bartenders?

No, you may provide your own bartenders as long as they are over the age of 18. No one under the age of 18 is permitted to sell, consume or sell liquor tickets. 

How much is the deposit?

The deposit is $1500 and is non-refundable. However, we do allow it to be transferred to another date if you are unable to keep your original date. All future dates will be based on availability.

What is your hold policy?

If you are interested in a date we can hold it for one week for you at no charge. After the week has passed if you haven't put down your deposit that date becomes available to the public again.

Is there camping available?

We are limited on parking, however, we have had several guests park 1 to 2 campers for their own private use to get ready or stay in, and we can definitely arrange this.

What about rehersal time?

At The Hitching Post, we offer the basic 48 hour package. This allows plenty of time to do decor and plan for a rehearsal and also leaves you the full morning the next day to pack your belongings and tidy up. 

Do you do the set up?

Yes, we do all the tables, chairs, and bench setup. We also set up the sound system if required. The decor is up to you and your decorator but the staff will always be around to lend a hand and meet with decorators.

Can we lay out the tables any way we want?

Yes, we will go over floor plans and layout prior to your date and set it up just the way you want. 

Is the tent temperature controlled?

We provide large wall fans for the hotter summer days and patio heaters for the cooler days of fall. While we cannot provide perfect weather for every event we try to do what we can to make the tent as comfortable as possible. We suggest a basket of blankets or umbrellas for shade to make it even better for your guests. Please note our tent is in a nicely shaded and protected area and even on the hottest of day there are several beautiful, shaded area to enjoy.

What all is provided by the venue?

Are the bathrooms full service?

Yes, we have a men's and women's restroom that include running water sinks, and flush toilets. 2 stalls for the women and 1 toilet and a urinal for the men so no long lineups.

Can we provide our own firewood?

No, we provide all the wood you will ever need and allow only our birch to be burnt. That way we can ensure that no damaging sparks will be left behind to ruin furniture or clothing.

Is there a shuttle service?

We do not provide a shuttle service but there are several options within Lloydminster to arrange for this. As well it is a very short cab ride into the city.
